Hall of Famer Sylvia Hatchell pens book about battling cancer, discovering inner strength

University of North Carolina coaching legend Sylvia Hatchell has written a book about her fight with acute myeloid leukemia, one of the most serious forms of cancer for a woman of her age. “I started reading this book and couldn’t put it down until I was finished,” says Anne Graham Lotz, author, minister and daughter of evangelist Billy Graham. “Every word she writes is worth reading. It humbled me. Convicted me. Encouraged me. Uplifted me. Instructed me. It also opened my eyes in a fresh way to the depth of Sylvia’s character.” Throughout the book, Hatchell discusses the factors that helped her remain positive and continue to fight, no matter what unfolded in her treatments. Her story challenges readers to examine how they are using their hearts and minds in the eye of the storm, inspiring all to keep fighting and press on instead of sinking into despair or negativity. “I called her often during her fight with leukemia and always hung up the phone feeling the same way I had when we first met more than a decade before: inspired,” says Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts. “Thank you and bless you, Sylvia, for transparently sharing your story and empowering others to overcome whatever challenges they may be facing.” Lotz and University of North Carolina men’s basketball coach Roy Williams penned the forewords to the book. Fight! Fight!: Discovering Your Inner Strength When Blindsided by Life is available through Amazon and The Core Media Group.
